Having teased us all with the excellent singles “Nasty” and “The Don”, Nas has finally announced that his long awaited tenth LP “Life Is Good” is due for release July 17th. He’s back again with yet another top notch single, “Daughters”. Produced by Chicago legend No I.D. it’s a heartfelt song that tackles the issues of parenthood and watching your daughter grow from a little girl into a young women. Nas also mourns his shortcomings as a father on lines like “She was taught and raised like a princess, but while I’m on the stage I can’t leave her defenceless/She heard stories of her daddy thuggin’/ so if her husband is a gangster can’t be mad, I love her”. It’s a lovable tune, and with Nas in this kind of form “Life Is Good” could be one of his best releases in years.
