Jacques Greene - Ready

Ready

He’s calling it ‘sexystep’ and I am in no position to argue with him, nor will I. The extremely talented Jacques Greene drops Ready, also the title of his new EP, on July 14th. After a string of fantastic releases, most notable Another Girl and Motivation he’s back again with another cracking release. With slightly less of a build up we’re used to from Greene, it’s more of a straightforward dubstep/dance track. Featuring a solid beat throughout and some dark synths it’s got me well up for this new EP. Enjoy the 3 minute teaser below.

Jacques Greene’s Ready EP drops July 16th via Vase Records.

Actress - Ascending

R.I.P.

Atmospheric, hypnotic, spacey, dark yet strangely uplifting are just a handful of words you could associate with the music of Darren Cunningham, aka Actress. Ascending, one of the many stellar tracks on his latest album R.I.P. is multi-layered ambience at its very best. The song contains virtually no beat at all yet it is curiously hypnotic, reminiscent of early Four Tet and Zomby. Check it out in the link below.

SBTRKT - Gamelena

Here is the bass heavy new release from SBTRKT, “Gamelena”. This is great as it more than likely means the London producer, real name Aaron Jerome, is back in the studio. His self-titled release was one of last year’s best, so he has a tough act to follow, but on “Gamelena” he is sounding as solid as ever. Check it out in the link below.

Four Tet - Jupiters

Four Tet - Jupiters

Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden has released some astonishing albums in the last ten years, seven studio releases, and There Is Love In You wasundoubtedly one of the best of 2010. He released a new track on his Soundcloud at the week, “Jupiters” sounding like a mix of Hebdens older recordings with his newer work. Clocking in at just under six minutes, the song opens with a hypnotic synth line before breaking into some smooth dubstep. He has been working a lot with Burial and Thom Yorke of late and this song certainly sounds like a product of that.

Four Tet are due to release a new LP later this year on his Text Label.

Purple City

Arclight drop the quite incredible ‘Holographic’ EP courtesy of Jacques Greene’s newly launched label Vase. These elusive Londoners have been floating around YouTube for some time now and are finally about to give us their first solid release this month. ‘Holographic’ starts off with the wonderful ‘Vitamin D’, gorgeous vocals and hypnotic beats it slowly builds up then flows blissfully into ‘Holographic’. The EP closes with ‘Purple City’, the highlight for me, which sounds like a fusion of Panda Bear and Korallreven mixed with the likes of dubstep genius, Burial.
