CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share

Glaswegian three-piece CHVRCHES have shared their brand new single “The Mother We Share” and it’s a real gem of an electronic-pop song. CHVRCHES have been heralded as Glasgow’s answer to Purity Ring, and the similarities are striking. In Lauren Mayberry, the band possess an exceptional vocalist who is capable of being powerful enough to sing over the tracks smooth synths and beats but remain incredibly clear throughout. It’s the vocals that steal the show for me here, a really great release. “The Mother We Share” is out November 5, via National Anthem.

The Hood Internet – Pesobedear (2012) / Rating: 4/5

The Hood Internet have a simple yet very effective method of making music. They take up and coming Hip/Hop musicians and mash them with up and coming Indie bands. Their latest mix consists of A$AP Rocky’s mixtape hit “Peso” and Purity Rings latest single, the excellent “Obedear”. They take the oh so slick sample from Obedear, speed it up, then pair it with A$AP’s rhyming. It’s a wonderful concoction of music that fans of both artists should really enjoy. The Hood Internet really pull this one off!

Pesobedear dropped May 1st.

Obedear

Despite having only released three songs previous to this, Canadian Ghost-Pop duo Purity Ring’s debut LP ‘Shrines’ is without doubt one of the most highly anticipated upcoming releases this year. Why? Well those three releases were pretty damn outstanding, check out “Ungirthed” here and see for yourself. They released another single today “Obedear” and it follows a familiar pattern, it’s excellent, possibly their best yet. A real old school Hip-Hop style keyboard accompanies the atmospheric, demonic backing vocals. Vocalist Megan James own vocals remain as sweet and robotic as ever. I can’t get enough of this track or this band, and with four flawless releases so far ‘Shrines’ could be massive! It drops July 24th. Tune of the week.
